RedeMont managing partner said the shift aligns with the firm's evolving vision
MinterEllison Gold Coast, a law firm with over four decades of service, has announced its departure from the national MinterEllison brand to establish itself as RedeMont.
Founded originally as Witheriff Nyst, the firm joined forces with MinterEllison in the 1990s to expand its market reach. However, it has now opted to return to its independent roots, launching a new brand and website under the name RedeMont.
RedeMont managing partner Ken Petty described the rebranding as a “natural choice” for both parties, noting that the shift aligns with the firm’s evolving vision. "We have built an incredible legacy over the last 40 years and were founded as an independent firm, so it feels right to return to those independent roots all these years later,” said Petty. He added that the change allows the firm to adapt to modern needs, where legal services often transcend physical boundaries. “We live in a vastly different world now where you no longer need to be in the same room as a client to service them. These changes allow us to better align with this new era while reaffirming our commitment to excellence and innovation.”

The name RedeMont symbolises the firm’s values and expertise, with “Rede” representing a common legal term meaning the “read” on an issue, and “Mont” signifying the “peak of excellence” that RedeMont aspires to maintain. With 80 staff members, the firm is looking to deepen its connection with the growing Gold Coast community, which it views as a global city ripe with new opportunities for growth.
The transition to RedeMont includes a refreshed office space and a new platform to highlight the expertise of its team, aiming to enhance client engagement and share insights more actively within the Gold Coast and broader legal communities. “We want to spotlight our incredible team of experts, and under RedeMont we can not only profile them but also share their insights with the Gold Coast community, clients, and the wider legal industry,” Petty explained.
RedeMont officially commenced operations under its new name on 4 November. The firm has been named a finalist in the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards. Petty views this recognition as a testament to the firm’s longstanding contributions to the Gold Coast and its continued commitment to delivering high-calibre legal services.
